Biography
On June 26, 1993, Ariana Grande-Butera entered the world in Boca Raton, Florida. She was born to Boca Raton, Florida-based graphic designer Edward Butera and Hose-McCann Communications CEO mom Joan Grande. This company was founded in Brooklyn in 1964, and it initially produced safety and communication devices. Grande, who was born in Italy but now calls the United States home, claims to be of Sicilian and Abruzzese heritage.
She has a close relationship with her grandmother, Marjorie Grande, who raised her, and her half-brother, the musician and producer Frankie Grande. She was born in New York but raised in Florida; when she was around eight or nine, her parents divorced and the family moved back to New York. In 1998, when her parents were season ticket holders for the Florida Panthers, she received minor bruises on both wrists from stray hockey pucks.

She rode a Zamboni for the first time in the brand new National Car Rental Center on October 9, 1998, during the first intermission of the Panthers’ first regular season game there.
The second incident was made possible by a $200 winning bid from her parents at an auction. This occurred in the very first scene of the game. The South Florida Sun Sentinel printed her riding the Zamboni the following day. On January 16, 2002, at 8:00 p.m., she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the Panthers’ home game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Little Ariana Grande made her acting debut in the title role of the musical Annie at the Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theater. She also had roles in Beauty and the Beast and The Wizard of Oz. She first appeared on stage when she was only eight years old.
She has since sung with the likes of the South Florida Philharmonic, the Florida Sunshine Pops, and Symphonic Orchestras. Before transferring to North Broward Preparatory, she attended Pine Crest School.
Impacts and Influence
The 2019 and 2016 lists of the 100 most influential people in the world both included Grande. According to Celia Almeida of the Miami New Times in 2017, Grande made the most convincing transition “from ingénue to a solo female artist” of any of the most prominent pop performers of the last 20 years. She was called the “first pop diva of the digital generation” by Hits in 2018 and the “reigning pop diva of the times” by Bloomberg in 2020.
When Pitchfork named Grande one of “The 200 Most Famous Artists of Pitchfork’s First 25 Years,” they said that she “emerged with music that stretched her skill deeper as it articulated a great trifecta of optimism, joy, and a forceful voice.” According to Billboard’s Hot 100, she was the 78th greatest artist of all time in 2021. Rolling Stone magazine will feature her single “Thank U, Next” on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in its 2021 issue.
Quite a few other musicians have cited Grande as an influence, including Madison Beer, Melanie Martinez, Meghan Trainor, Sufjan Stevens, Troye Sivan, Jungkook from BTS, Sabrina Carpenter, Danna Paola, Maria Becerra, Billie Eilish, and Yeri from Red Velvet.
Achievements
Over the course of her career, she has amassed an impressive collection of accolades, including two Grammys, three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, two Bambi Awards, and twenty-six Guinness World Records. Ariana Grande is currently one of the best musicians alive.
All of her studio albums have been certified platinum or higher, and she has sold over 85 million records worldwide. Her 2018 Woman of the Year award from Billboard recognises her as the decade’s most successful female singer-songwriter debut.
In a yearly issue of Time, she was ranked among the 100 most influential people in the world (2016 and 2019). Grande has more Instagram followers than any other female artist and more YouTube subscribers than any other female artist.
Career
In 2011, she signed with Republic Records after scouts saw her perform on YouTube. The public is fascinated by her four-octave speaking voice, and the media has given extensive coverage to her private life.
Her first album, Yours Truly, which was influenced by R&B and doo-wop from the 1950s, reached the top spot on the US Billboard 200. The album’s lead single, “The Way,” peaked at number ten on the US Billboard Hot 100.
She was likened to Mariah Carey because of her high singing and humming register on the CD. My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016) were her next two studio albums (in 2016). Then, drawing on those experiences, Grande released Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019), two more of her landmark albums (2019).
